The pen was dipped into a bone-carved
inkwell, then carefully placed on the parchment. A blue hand guided the pen,
turning and twisting, creating a letter of great importance and concern.
Niela,
This is your pirate’s lifeline. Notice
how he is not attached to it. You know what this means. His stupid decisions
have led him to his doom and you were not there to help him. You should have
left him to me. You never knew how to take care of him. I did. Unfortunately,
we will never see his ocean eyes again nor hear his charming voice.
By the time you get this, I will be long
gone with the one thing that belonged to you. His heart belongs to me now.
Funny how these things happen, eh? It was wonderful knowing you. Next time,
stay out of our business.
Goodbye, Elf.
Tia placed the large shark tooth in the envelope and melted black wax, sealing
the package with a skull. She walked from the inn to the mailbox, smiling as
she sent out the package addressed to “Davina Dawnveil.” With a simple push,
the package was placed into the box and magically sent out. A quick visit to
the high security prison afterward seemed to turn her mood from satisfied to
upset.
The grunts were running around, yelling and pulling aside any elf they saw. It
was then that Tia saw the Admiral standing at the prison’s entrance. He looked
at Tia and quickly turned away. She ran toward him and grabbed his arm.
“Wat be ‘appening?”
“He’s gone.”
“ ‘Hoo be gone?”
“The pirate! The bloody pirate is gone! Somehow, he disappeared.”
“Disappeared? Did joo investigate the spy amongst the troops?”
“We didn’t find anyone. Everyone is clean.”
“Dat woman! Dat woman I be tellin’ joo about!”
“Laerchel? No, she’s been out on the field. There’s no way she’s involved. We
need to find out what happened or Garrosh will have my head.”
Tia was fuming. She grabbed the Admiral and whispered against his lips. “Joo
lost my ‘eart. If I not be getting’ ‘is ‘eart, I be gettin’ joors.”
The Admiral’s eyes widened. “We’ll get him.” He didn’t know why he was afraid
of her or why he was obeying, but he knew he had to get her the pirate.
She let him go and walked away, her hands now tense fists. Tia saw the mailbox
and growled softly. The package was already sent and Cris was not dead. In a
fit of rage, she snapped her fingers and lightning struck the mailbox,
destroying it instantly.
