108. It Begins

Cris returns from being away to hear that things are falling into place and it will be time to initiate The Plan.

The sun burned high above the ship off the coast of Ratchet as the men worked on cleaning both the deck and the sails. Up on the crow’s nest, a human narrowed his eyes and noticed someone approaching the ship. At first he shrugged it off, since many curious eyes had walked by to take a closer look then walked away, but this one kept walking toward them and it wasn’t until he saw the auburn hair bright under the sun that he immediately climbed down, shouting, “The Captain is back!”
The other sailors quickly scurried to see the captain approach. “Quick, tell Ziggly!” The ruckus on deck was so loud that Gerty and Tia emerged from within the ship to see the captain arrive. His boots pounced heavily onto the plank of wood as he boarded. He seemed to whistle and stopped when he saw everyone looking at him. “What?” he asked. “Don’t you mangy dogs have work to do?”
“We didn’t know where ta look fer ya, Wolf,” Gerty said as she looked up at him.
            “Look for me?”
“Joo be getting’ in troubah agin?” Tia said, smirking and leaning against a wooden wall.
“No, just taking a break from all this.” He pulled his bag over his shoulder before it slipped off. “Well, come on, do something productive. We’re still waiting for some sort of message.”
The crew stared in silence for a moment, allowing Gerty to speak. “Well, that’s the thing, Wolf. You already got it.”
Cristianno’s eyes widened and walked toward the dwarf woman. “What?”
“Your communication device is on the desk. We heard a voice calling for you over and over. It took us a while, but we realized it was Laerchel. Gods, I hope she’s well.”
Cris snapped his head over to his cabin’s door and quickly walked toward it. “And where the fuck is Ziggly!” He kicked the door open and saw the goblin sitting at his desk with the headset on and taking notes. He lifted his red eyes and grinned.
“Hold on, Laer. Looks like the little bitch is back.”
“Fuck you, Zig. Is she still connected? Let me speak with her!” He gently placed the bag on his bed and walked around the desk, grabbing the headset off the goblin’s head and sitting on the desk itself. “Laer? Laer, you there?”
Ziggly lifted the paper up and Cristianno took it, nodding as he read. Gerty and Tia stood at the doorway while the rest of the crew stood behind them, all of them curious about what Cris was talking to Laerchel about. Ziggly looked at them and grinned, pointing at Cris and whispering, “Booty call.” Gerty and the men snickered, but Tia continued to stare at the captain.
“Alright, and that’s the route, right? You’re certain of it?” Cris nodded and rubbed his eyes. “Why can’t you come with us?” Shaking his head, he sighed loudly. “Fine, no that’s fine. Don’t want you to get in trouble. We need you where you are. Cargo’s the same? Weapons, supplies, armor?” He nodded and chuckled. “I doubt we can sell that, but we can probably trade it for something. Alright, then we’ll head over there in a few days.” He turned and glanced at the crowed watching him. “Of course I do.” He narrowed his eyes and Gerty chuckled.
“Alright, show’s over, dogs. Shoo.” The crew grumbled and walked away. “You too, Tia.”
Tia’Zula crossed her arms and leaned against the doorway. “Shut up, dwarf.”
“Don’t make me shoot you, troll.”
“She’s just bitter that she ain’t listening to Cris’ voice telling her that he misses her,” Ziggly sneered at Tia and she glared at him. “Ain’t that right?”
            “Joo shut up too, goblin.”
“Will you all shut up?” Cris shouted. A woman’s laughter could faintly be heard coming from the headset. He heard her speaking again and rolled his eyes. “Same ol’ shit. Of course I would love to see you, but…” He hesitated and tapped his fingers on the desk a few times. “Yes, alright, go ahead. We’ll see you in Orgrimmar, away from the crowds. Don’t get too attached to this life. We want you back.” He smiled and nodded, “Yes, I want you back. Be safe.”
As Cris removed his headset, Ziggly laughed. “I swear you’re mounting up the woman count.” As he said this, his eyes shifted to Tia, who was still standing at the doorway. She glared at Ziggly and without a word, she turned around and slammed the door behind her. Ziggly chuckled and leaned back in the chair.
“Just fuck off, Zig.” Cristianno threw the headset onto the desk and walked to his bed, throwing himself onto the mattress and covering his eyes. “We need to meet up. Plan this out.”
            “So we’re good?”
“Sounds like it. And we’re having another with us. Not sure if she’ll look human or worgen.”
            “What?! A mutt?”
“Shut up, Zig. She’s helping us with an escape plan. She’s going to save your fucking green ass.” Cristianno pulled a cigarette from his pocket, along with his goblin lighter and he lit the cigarette, inhaling deeply.
“Well, I ain’t watching after another chick’s ass.”
“No, you’ll just be staring at it. She wants to meet you.”
“Oh, she wants a piece of the Zig?” The goblin waggled his eyebrows and grinned widely. Cris chuckled and shook his head.
“Hardly, but she does want to meet you.”
            “I can tap that ass.”
Cris rolled his eyes and sat up, pulling his legs over the edge of the bed. “Go get the crew together. Tell Gerty we’re having dinner and then we’re having a meeting.” The goblin walked from behind the desk and toward the doorway.
“I still think we should go hit up a brothel or something. Before we go.” He looked at Cris, who was glaring at him. “Unless you already found someone else to fuck.”
            “Get out.”
The goblin laughed and slammed the door behind him. Cris sighed and opened his bag, pulling out a delicate-looking, fiery flower. Its scent was strong but it warmed him as he inhaled. The past two days with her were soothing and made him forget the world. He walked toward his desk and placed it in a drawer. It was then that he saw the headset. Its maker longed to be in his arms and he knew she would be upset about this new woman. He chuckled at bit at the situation before he glanced down at his left hand; at the ring on his ring finger. He sighed and closed his eyes, his hands curling into fists. He walked to the doorway and before he opened the door, his arms swung and his fists flew into the wall; first one, then the other. The grunt he made as he punched the wall was loud enough that he was sure everyone outside had heard him. He placed his head on the door and sighed.
There was no time for guilt. He had an airship to hijack.
