The winds picked up slightly, lifting the waves along the red shore. The young woman tiptoed along the wet sand, smiling and giggling as the water covered her bare feet. She walked with her full skirt gathered in her hand, near her knees. Her brown hair flowed like vines reaching outward. Her top slipped slightly off one shoulder as she stood, staring at the blue sea ahead of her. She took a deep breath and twirled around once more, laughing to herself.
            “Enjoying the view?”
The young woman turned around and took a step back as soon as she saw the elf approaching her. He spoke Common, which took her by surprise, but she didn’t reply. Her almond shaped blue eyes gazed toward the human camp and quickly shifted back to the elf. She took another step back, tilting her head slightly to the side.
“I’m from that little camp over there,” he said softly, trying not to startle the girl. He looked at himself and chuckled at his torn pants and ragged shirt. “Do you speak common?” For a moment, he recalled the one he loved. “Do you speak at all?”
A soft smile crept up upon her face and she quietly replied, “Hello.” She let go of her white skirt and the light cloth draped down to her feet. She moved her brown hair away from her as she stared at the elf. Her eyes moved about him cautiously, staring at his long auburn hair and she curiously gazed at his sea-green eyes. “You’re an elf, but you speak common.”
The elf flashed a charming smile and took a step toward her. “Indeed I’m an elf. You have a curious accent, dear. Where do you come from?” He turned to look at the human camp, noticing a few pairs of eyes staring at him.
The girl looked back at the camp and turned to the elf. “Far from here.” The breeze picked up slightly, her hair lifting behind her. “And you? Where are you from?” As the winds calmed, so did her long, wavy tresses, framing around her shoulders. Turning toward the sea, the elf simply pointed and smiled. Her young chuckle caused him to smile. “You live in the sea?”
“On the sea. Rather, I did when I had my on ship.” He turned to the rippling waters. “I lost it before ending up here.” His eyes turned back to the girl, who couldn’t keep her eyes off him. “What’s your name?”
            “Sarahai.”
“Lovely name.” He walked closer to her, smiling like a sly wolf. “For a lovely girl.”
She chuckled and coyly turned away. “And what’s yours?”
            “Wolf.”
The blue eyes lit up as she lifted them to look at him. “Really?” Her arms dropped to the side, the full sight of her young body turned toward him. “It’s…Wolf?”
The elf smirked, “Ay. Is that so hard to believe?”
With her head slowly shaking, she smiled at him and stepped toward him, an unexpected move on his part. “Wolf.” She chuckled, the wind picking up once more, their hair lifting up in the air. Without even asking, she simply reached out to his face, removing a strand of auburn hair. “I was about to explore the coast a bit. Would you accompany me, Wolf?
This is too easy, he thought.  With a nod of his head, he followed the young woman toward the beach. Her soft hand seemed to enclose around his and he didn’t complain as she playfully tugged at him, a rather hopeful smile on her face. He simply watched her.
We’ll head out together…and I’ll come back alone.
