26. Silence

The following days have been filled with Rain and Cris getting to know each other in Booty Bay. Cris is deeply infatuated with her. Inspirational song for this story was "Kissing You," by Des'ree.

The sun began to set, rays of golden and skies of reds, violets and oranges began to take their place over the watery horizon. It was Cristianno’s favorite time of the day and with Rain sitting beside him, it was the without a doubt the best part of any day. He had spent the past few hours talking about Stormwind and as the sun set, he looked down at her beautiful face, which continued to be interested in his words, her eyes filled with attentiveness. He stared into those eyes of hers and shook his head, “How can I possibly hold your attention with my boring conversations, Rain? I speak way too much.”
She gazed into his sea-green eyes, making sure she had his attention before she shook her head slowly, smiling warmly at him. Her hand reached to his head, about to touch his temple in order to communicate with him when he stopped her, kissing her hand and shaking his head. Rain own head tilted, slightly confused, but Cris simply reached over and kissed her lips. As soon as he pulled back, she smiled at him, her face now flushed over and once more, she reached for his head only to be stopped by Cris once more.
He lured her hand to his lips, kissing each fingertip as delicately as if he were touching rose petals. His lips travelled down to the palm of her soft hand, an eye peeking at her. She gave a silent gasp as she curiously stared at him, but Cris smiled faintly, still kissing her hand. He took her graceful hand and placed it on the back of his neck while he reached out for her face. A single finger traced from her hairline above her own temple, downward along the jaw line. He smiled as she closed her eyes for a moment; eyelashes fluttering like baby butterflies before she looked back at him, devotion and trust gleaming in her eyes.
Cris stared at her features in awe and wonder. Her eyes were luminous and tender toward him. Her nose was a small, delicate button that made him smile. Her lips, round and ample, cushions to rest his own lips upon, and he did, hearing another intake of air as he moved closer to her. Staring at her soul’s windows, he touched her neck and with a downward glance, he kissed her throat, silently begging to hear a noise, anything, so that his ears could hear her voice. Just once.
Moving his lips from her neck, his eyes glance down at her chest. He recalled the many times his mind wandered into lewd thoughts as soon as his eyes caught a glimpse of a chest, but this time, he sought a specific location: the center; the shield protecting her heart. His eyes looked up at Rain, who simply stared at him in wonderment. He looked at her seeking permission and with a soft gaze of need and desire. He looked intently at her chest before turning his head to the side, placing his ear against her. Cris’ eyes slowly closed, as he heard the beating of her life second by second, beat by beat. He smiled, his arms wrapping around Rain, holding her close to him, an action that was reciprocated almost instantly by her.
Rain brought one of her hands onto his head, stroking his hair. With each touch, he could feel her devotion and appreciation for the man he was. He surrendered in her embrace, realizing just how much she meant to him and how she soothed the tumultuous storms of his life with a simple, yet meaningful smile.
He lifted his head and looked at her, opening his mouth to say something, but he stopped. Instead, he took both her hands and lifted them up to the large shark tooth pierced onto the center of his skin, placing her hands under the tooth, as if he were giving it to her. Without that tooth, his life was over. It now lay within her hands. Cristianno D’Avros looked up at Rain, who at first wondered why she was holding the tooth, then, as if she had received a small shock, she looked at him, her innocent eyes illuminating with hope, and filling with tears. She had received his message clearer than any words he could have said.
Rain continued to hold the tooth with one hand while the other one touched his cheek and together, they both sought each other’s comfort, embracing in a silent kiss just as the final rays of light settled over the calm sea.
